L’INFIORATA DI CITTA DELLA PIEVE

The petals of Città della Pieve’s infiorata tell the tale of the voyage on 22 and 23 of 2024.

The Contrada people of Terziere Casalino organize the Infiorata of Città della Pieve, which is a celebration of travel and observation. This event, with its enchanting floral display, has been bringing color and vibrancy to the Umbrian city for the past 59 years. The event this year, scheduled for June 22 and 23, 2024, promises to illuminate the city with a magnificent floral carpet spanning more than 900 square meters.

From designing the pattern to precisely positioning the petals, the production of this spectacle is in and of itself a work of art. The design, which honors travel this year through the lenses of science, exploration, and geography, will be created by Pievese artist Andrea Bittarello. The history of Città della Pieve, particularly the city’s liberation during World War II, is included in the tale narrated by the flowers.

However, the Infiorata is more than just a work of art. It celebrates all the senses, with traditional local dishes served up at the Taverna del Barbacane. From June 13th to 22nd, diners can savor the rich flavors of dishes like “snails al pinch” and wild boar stew perfumed with tarragon. These are crafted with as much care and passion as the floral display itself.

In addition, on June 18th, there will be a dinner entitled “The Taste of Flowers and Floral Essences.” On June 23rd, the final day of the celebration, flowers will be the main attraction at “Fiori in Fiera” and “Musica in Fiore.”

The weekend culminates on June 21 with a Holy Mass in the Church of San Luigi and a procession through the streets of Terziere. On June 22 and 23, there are guided tours.

The Infiorata of Città della Pieve, an evocative annual celebration, beautifully captures the essence of travel, which is a voyage of observation and learning.
